privacy policy
Last updated: 6 August 2026
This policy explains what personal data Very Serious Ads collects from visitors to veryseriousads.com, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it. It covers this website only — not how we handle data inside a client's own ad accounts, which is governed by our services agreement with that client.
who we are
Very Serious Ads ("we", "us") is the data controller for personal data collected through this website. If you're contacting us from the UK or EU, we're the party responsible for your data under UK GDPR (and EU GDPR where it applies).
what we collect
We collect personal data in three ways:
| Source | What's collected |
|---|---|
| The "book a call" form | When you request a call, we collect your name, phone number, and business name or website, along with the service and budget range you select. We use this to get in touch and prepare for the call. |
| Direct email | When you email us directly, we receive whatever you send — typically your name, email address, and the contents of your message. |
| Automatic collection (analytics) | Pages viewed, referring site, approximate location (country level), and browser and device type — gathered by privacy-friendly analytics that uses no cookies and doesn't store your full IP address or identify you personally. See cookies & analytics below. |
We don't knowingly collect any special category data (health, religion, etc.) through this website, and we'd ask that you don't include it when you email us.
why we collect it
- To respond to enquiries — contact details and enquiry content, so we can reply to you. Legal basis: legitimate interest in running our business, and steps taken at your request prior to a contract.
- To understand how our site is used — aggregated, cookieless analytics data, so we can see which pages are working. This data doesn't identify you. Legal basis: legitimate interest in maintaining and improving our website.
- To keep the site secure and working — server logs and basic device data. Legal basis: legitimate interest in running a secure, functioning website.
cookies & analytics
This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. To understand how the site is used, we run privacy-friendly, self-hosted analytics that is cookieless — it doesn't store cookies on your device, doesn't record your full IP address, and doesn't track you across other websites or build a profile of you.
It gives us only aggregate, non-identifying figures: which pages are viewed, where visitors arrive from, approximate location (country level), and general device type. Because it uses no cookies and no personal identifiers, there's no cookie banner to click through.
We don't currently use the Meta Pixel or any other advertising trackers on this site. If that changes, we'll update this policy and ask for your consent before any such tracking loads.
who we share data with
We use a small number of processors to run this website. We don't sell personal data, ever.
| Processor | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Resend (Resend, Inc.) | Delivers "book a call" form submissions to our inbox by email. |
| Google Workspace (Google LLC) | Sending and receiving business email. |
| Hetzner Online GmbH | Hosts this website and keeps basic server logs. |
Each processor is contractually required to protect your data and only use it for the purpose we've specified.
international transfers
Very Serious Ads operates between the UK and Hong Kong. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK or EEA — including to Hong Kong, or to processors based in the US — we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or equivalent Standard Contractual Clauses, or the processor's own recognised compliance framework.
how long we keep it
- Enquiries that don't become clients: deleted after 24 months of inactivity.
- Clients: kept for the duration of our engagement plus 7 years, in line with our tax and accounting record-keeping obligations.
- Website analytics: aggregated and non-identifying; kept for up to 24 months, after which it remains only as anonymous statistics.
your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- ask what personal data we hold about you, and get a copy of it;
- ask us to correct anything inaccurate;
- ask us to delete your data, subject to our own legal obligations to keep some records;
- object to or restrict certain processing, including direct marketing;
- withdraw consent at any time where we've relied on it, without affecting anything done before you withdrew it;
- ask for your data in a portable format, where technically feasible.
To exercise any of these, email us at the address below. We'll respond within one month.
children
This website and our services are aimed at businesses, not children. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the data we hold, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls on our systems. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we don't treat that as an excuse.
changes to this policy
We'll update this page if what we do changes. The "last updated" date at the top will always reflect the current version. Material changes affecting how we use your data will be flagged more prominently where practical.
contact & complaints
Questions about this policy, or want to exercise your rights? Email contact@veryseriousads.com.
If you think we've mishandled your data, you have the right to complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). We'd appreciate the chance to sort it out directly first.
